Welcome & Windows 7
by admin on Dec.09, 2008, under General, Windows 7
Hello,
Yes I got bored, so I decided to do another blog, awesome I know!. Anyway to start off I will be writing about Windows 7, the new OS in production from obviously Microsoft. Recently a release of the latest Build, Build 6956 was somewhat nabbed by an attende at the WinHEC Expedition in China, they managed to clone the Windows 7 machine onto a portable HDD and then released the VHD file to the public (.torrent of course) later that day people had already converted the VHD to .ISO and my the iso is mainstream shared across .torrent sites and of course our beloved rapidshare.
My first opinions of Windows 7 are suprising that it’s actually bloody amazing, very stable, runs games smoothly, haven’t experienced any BSOD’s as of yet, hardware seems stable with it aswell. Another thing I noticed was the driver support was alot better on this considering it’s only a pre-beta than Vista itself, it knew exactly what I was running without me having to download the drivers manually.
So you’re probably sitting there asking whats new in this almighty windows 7 well here is a taster for you:
Windows Aero Peek, the concept is that you can highlight the conversation, window etc that you want to see without actually clicking it and it shows that window as shown here:
Another feature which is stupid to really show is desktop slideshows, you can now select multiple desktops like such: (ok so I can show you but I ain’t showing them all!)
Few weeks back Build 6801 was released and thanks to withinwindows.com we where able to enable the “Super Bar” with the .dll workaround, however in this build the Super Bar is already enabled and I have to say it’s far superior to what I thought it would be like.
As you can see next to the msn icon there is a stack on the right showing there are multiple windows open as you can see already on the aeropeek screenshot, it works well, I have yet to fill my taskbar (Yes Tom Ferguson it’s possible on a 30″ Screen). And last but not least the good old start menu, it’s been changed, again. You can now preview what you lasted opened in them as shown here:
Oh and the new bootscreen aswell:
And the last new feature DirectX 11:
These are of course the features I, myself have found, however, there are probably more still to be discovered as well it’s only day 3 of the leak isn’t it. Below is a link to the localized wallpapers in Windows 7 for you to see/use and also a link to a .reg file to get rid of the annoying “Send feedback” Microsoft have added at the top right of every window.
